Novelist Eliana Ramage, author of To the Moon and Back, will read as part of the School of Letters Summer Reading Series on Wednesday, June 17, in Convocation Hall at 4:30 p.m.
We are so excited to have Eliana Ramage up to Sewanee this June! She will be delivering a reading from her debut novel, To the Moon and Back, on June 17 in Convocation Hall at 4:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and a reception follows.
Ramage's novel has been called a "breathtaking debut about family, identity, and love across generations,” by Reese Witherspoon, and it is an official Reese's Book Club Pick. It follows Steph Harper, whose mother flees an abusive husband—with Steph, 5, and her younger sister in tow—to Cherokee Nation, where she hopes they might finally belong. In response, Steph sets her sights as far away from Oklahoma as she can get, vowing that she will let nothing get in the way of pursuing the rigorous physical and academic training she knows she will need to be accepted by NASA, and ultimately, to go to the moon.
Ramage holds an MFA in fiction from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and has received support from Lambda Literary, Vermont Studio Center, Tin House, and the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center. A citizen of the Cherokee Nation, she lives in Nashville with her family.
We can't wait to meet Eliana Ramage and to see you at the reading!
