In partnership with Tower Community Bank, the School of Letters presents a reading and conversation with author Kevin Wilson on Thursday, June 15, at 5:30 p.m in Convocation Hall at the corner of University and Georgia Avenues. Event parking will be available. A reception will follow in Guerry Garth, and the University Bookstore will have the author’s books for sale during the reception.
Wilson is the author of two collections, Tunneling to the Center of the Earth (2009), which received an Alex Award from the American Library Association and the Shirley Jackson Award, and Baby You’re Gonna Be Mine (2018), and four novels, The Family Fang (2011), Perfect Little World (2017), Nothing to See Here (2019), a New York Times bestseller and a Read with Jenna book club selection, and Now Is Not the Time to Panic (2023). His fiction has appeared in Ploughshares, Southern Review, One Story, A Public Space, and elsewhere, and has appeared in Best American Short Stories 2020 and 2021, as well as The PEN/O. Henry Prize Stories 2012. He has received fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, and the KHN Center for the Arts. He lives in Sewanee with his wife, the poet Leigh Anne Couch, and their two sons. He is an associate professor in the Department of English and Creative Writing at the University.
Following a reading, Wilson will be in conversation with Barry Allen, president and CEO of Tower Community Bank. The bank’s mission includes serving and supporting the South Cumberland community. Allen is the creator of The Impact Code, a podcast focusing on people who have made an impact on the world around them and the journey they undertook to find their path.
